Name: Vala Mal Doran

Character & Media Information: Vala is from the show Stargate SG-1, a spin off of the movie Stargate. Her first appearance was during the season 8 episode "Prometheus Unbound," and in season 9 she returned as a principal character.
Vala first began as an adversary for the SG1 team. She encountered Daniel Jackson during an attempt to steal the Prometheus, Stargate Command's advanced space ship. Although she failed and escaped, she later returned to Stargate Command to elicit Daniel's linguistic abilities to help decode a tablet she had stolen that supposedly pointed to buried treasure.
Joining SG1 for a short time, the team eventually went up against the Ori, a race of powerful beings determined to take grasp over the galaxy. The team successfully held the Ori back from their invasion attempt, but not without Vala's apparent death. Later, it was discovered that Vala had actually been transported to the Ori galaxy, whereupon she was able to contact Stargate Command. At that point she had been impregnated by the Ori, and feared the child would be the bringer of the Ori's stronghold on other galaxies.
In fact, after the child's birth, she grew up in a matter of days and became the head of the Ori army. Although SG1 was able to rescue Vala, and she eventually became an official member of the team, their war against the Ori continued as did Vala's torn loyalties between SG1 and her daughter. Eventually SG1 succeeded in defeating the Ori threat completely, as well as Vala's daughter. In the aftermath, Vala remained on Earth as a member of Stargate Command.
Character Perception: A walking contradiction, Vala comes into the Stargate series as an already confused and complex character. Having spent most of her life conning people out of things she couldn't outright steal, she is also promiscuous and ambitious. And although she is an accomplished thief, she also has an apt moral compass, and has been known to even begrudgingly return items she's stolen when requested.
Vala is also completely conflicted, especially in terms of her relationship with her daughter, Adria. Although Vala certainly felt a motherly draw to Adria, she often refused to accept the girl as her daughter and vehemently fought against Adria and the Ori's attempted stronghold. Even though, considering her past, Stargate Command was hesitant to allow Vala to join them, the SG1 team believed in her support and, eventually, though much effort and adversity, Vala was accepted as an official member of the Stargate Program.
Even through her sassy exterior and endless innuendo, it becomes obvious that what Vala wants more than anything is a place to belong and a group to call family. She bonds quickly and loyally to the SG1 team, and after a while begins to view Earth as her home.
Timeline: Vala is canon through the Stargate movie "Continuum."

Inventory: In a military issue bag: three changes of clothes, make-up, hair curlers and hair accessories, a pocket knife (complete with a flashlight, screwdriver, nail file, and screwdriver), a lock pick, a lock-cutter, a glass cutter, a wire cutter, and pliers.
Additional Notes: Vala is a compulsive thief and lair, but she usually means well. 'Ship wise, she has a big thing for Daniel Jackson, but she'll probably hit on your character anyway.
